ReCES Monitor is an application, usually launched from a  workstation or server as a scheduled job, that evaluates the status of patients flagged as potential study candidates but are awaiting lab results for final confirmation.  ReCES Monitor can be executed normally and the scan initiated manually or launched from the command line for automated scanning

ReCES Monitor should be run once per day to verify candidate study qualification by checking the status of order pending and results pending candidates.  When study parameters are defined, they may include one or more test result values or ranges in order to qualify the patient.  In the event that a patient passes all the other criteria including a diagnosis match, the SimProbe 5x alert will notify the provider that the patient may qualify for the study but requires the defined tests to be ordered to further evaluate eligibility.  The provider has the option of ordering the tests and confirming the patient as a candidate or declining the patient as a candidate.  If the provider accepts, the candidate is defined as Orders Pending and the provider should order the tests listed in the alert through the EMR order system to continue the candidate evaluation process.  When ReCES Monitor runs its scheduled scan, it checks to see if the required tests were in fact ordered, if not, the candidate is deleted, if so, the candidate is promoted to Results Pending.

Along the same lines, if the candidate requires certain tests and the tests are ordered but results have not been posted to the result fields, the patient is defined as Results Pending.  The ReCES Monitor checks the result fields defined in the parameter table to see if results have been posted and if they are in range to qualify the patient as a candidate.  If so, the patient is upgraded to Pending and fully qualified as a candidate.  If the results fall outside the range, the patient is deleted from the candidate list for that study.  If there are no results posted for evaluation, the status remains unchanged and the patient is evaluated again on the next scheduled monitor scan.

ReCES Monitor also keeps an audit log of the actions taken that can be reviewed if required.
